New Head of the Operations Directorate Appointed
MG Itzik Cohen has assumed the role of Head of the Operations Directorate, replacing MG Oded Basiuk, who has held the position for the past four years and is concluding 34 years of service in the IDF.
The change of command ceremony took place today (Thursday) at "Rabin" Base (the Kirya), led by the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir, with the participation of members of the General Staff Forum and family members.
From the remarks of the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir: "We gather at a time when a great spirit fills the heart of the entire nation, in light of the achievements of the IDF and the security forces on the battlefield. About a week ago, Operation 'Rising Lion' concluded — a defining operation in the history of the State of Israel, in which the IDF once again demonstrated its capabilities and fulfilled its mission to protect the citizens of Israel against all enemies. In the current war, we achieved many accomplishments thanks to the Operations Directorate. It knew how to harness the forces in the field, maneuver between various combat arenas, implement lessons in real time, and lead the IDF.
Basiuk, you led the directorate through one of the most challenging periods we have known. You did so with responsibility and sound judgment, driven by a deep sense of mission and commitment to the citizens of Israel.
Itzik, during the 'Swords of Iron' war, you were a source of pride to many, a brave and determined commander who led your division to significant achievements. Your vast experience and your years as a commander and soldier in the field will guide you on your new path. I have no doubt you will continue to lead with professionalism, responsibility, and courage, with a broad vision, deep understanding, and dedication to our homeland."
