Delegation Departs to Equatorial Guinea


Doctors and nurses from the Medical Corps and various hospitals will provide medical assistance to the victims of a series of explosions in the city of Bata
 
Tonight, a joint IDF, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs aid delegation will depart to the city of Bata in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
 
The delegation was decided upon following government directives, in order to assist in the aftermath of a series of explosions. The explosions occurred a few days ago, in a weapons warehouse on a military base in the city of Bata, and resulted in many wounded and dead.
 
The Medical Corps, which has accepted responsibility for such delegations since 1999, has made extensive preparations including the establishment of two treatment teams, which consist of professionals from all relevant fields as well as related medical equipment. The delegation will focus on providing life-saving medical treatment in the city's hospitals, led by skilled medical staff and injury treatment specialists.
 
The delegation is headed by the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Col. Dr. Noam Fink, and includes around 60 members, most of whom are doctors and nurses from the Medical Corps, from the various medical corps and Israeli hospitals, who were assigned by the Ministry of Health and Magen David Adom (MDA).
The Deputy Commander of the delegation is the Commanding Officer of the Rescue and Training Brigade in the Home Front Command, Col. Shlomi Ben Mocha. The support team of the delegation will be managed by commanders from the Home Front Command, the Rescue and Training Brigade, who are the center of national knowledge regarding aid missions to various countries around the world.
 
The delegation will operate in accordance with the Israeli Ministry of Health's Corona virus guidelines, while protecting the health of all delegation members.
 
The IDF, on behalf of the State of Israel, will continue to assist in the aftermath of any disaster around the world that requires its experience and capabilities.
